Measure Area

To measure a horizontal area:

1.     On the Tools tab, in the Measure group, click Area. When the cursor is placed in either of the layer windows, it changes to a measure area cursor .

2.     In a layer window, click at one point of the area to be measured to set a starting point. A straight yellow line connects to your starting point as you move the mouse. Each additional click adds a new line connected to the last line.

3.     Right-click to close the marked region. Its area is displayed in a pop-up window and also in the layer window’s status area.

4.     If you want to change the measurement units, on the View tab, in the Units group, click Measure Units, and select Meter or Feet.

5.     Right-click to exit measuring mode.
